DAY 5 - Why does it take soooo long?
Here’s Part Five of the PharmBoard.com 5-Day MiniCourse designed to get you off to a great start on your search for a job as a
Pharmaceutical Sales Representative.
ABSTRACT
—-> The pharmaceutical sales job search is quite often a very arduous process. There are countless people who “want” a job in pharma sales but just aren’t willing (or able) to stick out the search. Stick around, stick it out, and you will walk away with the job you desire.
PART FIVE: WHY DOES IT TAKE SOOO LONG?
When I started PharmBoard.com years ago, I had visions of it being a message board that met everyone’s needs in terms of the
mechanics of the job search.
- “What questions does XYZ Pharma ask during the phone interview?”
- “What types of things should I put in my brag book?”
- “How much do reps from ABC Pharma usually make in a year?”
The answers to these types of questions, and many more can be found with a quick search on the PharmBoard.com message boards. But that’s not, in my rather qualified opinion, where the real value of the site lies.
Its value lies in the encouragment and support you get from the other members on the site who are suffering through the job search with you.
It seems the internet provides the ideal buffer for people who, in the day to day search for a job, would be fierce competitors.
And that suits me just fine. The job search is hard enough as it is. I always liked playing full speed “between the whistles” so I can appreciate the fact that competitors by day can be the ideal support by night.
Visit and participate in the PharmBoard.com message boards often. I’m certain you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the outpouring of support and encouragment you’ll receive while you’re there.
Stay organized, build a sales plan, keep yourself motivated, don’t forget about your life and your family, and pursue the job with passion and commitment and you will succeed.
If you find this site helpful, please send a link to your career services department so your fellow alumni know about PharmBoard too! I've already written the message for you. :)
