The Job Search Box
From time to time I share with folks how much it helps me to create mental images that enable me to structure information and focus on the task at hand.
In your case, the task at hand is getting a pharmaceutical sales job. Here’s a mental image for you.
I’ve already told you that the job search is simply a sales process. Learn the sales process, implement it, and you will be successful.
If you’ll consider, however, that a successful sale is like a box, I think your focus will begin to improve.
The box holds success. Each corner of the box represents a different part of your job search. Those corners can be labeled . . .
- Research
- Resume & Cover Letter
- Interview
- Networking
Full and fast success requires that all corners of the box be strong. Weakness at any of these corners will allow success to spill over the edges until you strengthen the weak corner.
I encourage you to think about how you’re spending your time on your job search.
Is there a weak corner to your box?
